It was produced by Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne from 1873. The pistols were widely used during the First World War and issued to reserve units in 1940. The French Resistance made widespread use of the pistols during German occupation. This is an excellent Hard Case Leather holster for the Chamelot-Delvigne, Model 1873 revolver. The original period brown leather holster has a full flap cover and single belt loop to the rear. The rear also has 2 brass hanging bars fitted with parade shoulder strap. The front of the holster has an ammunition pouch which is covered by the flap when closed. The pouch contains stitched leather loops for 12 individual rounds of ammunition. One loop holds a single original inert deactivated round of ammunition. The brass case is head stamped ‘Guerre M73’ and with factory inspection mark (illustrated). The inside of the lid is impressed with 1880 date and has original ink stamped numbers (illustrated). The surface of the leather has just light surface scuffs consistent with age and service use but all leather and stitching are intact. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 17062
