Create my profile now!The BSA AirSporter is an underlever spring powered Air Rifle first produced in 1948, by the Birmingham Small Arms Company and remained more or less unchanged until 1962 when the Mk2 was produced. The Mk1 had a one-piece barrel and receiver assembly with a leather piston washer, while all other marks had a screw-in barrel with most having a PTFE piston and breach seal, giving a "legal UK power" of 10 ft/lbf (14.2 J) of energy. Manufactured in .177 (4.5 mm) and .22 (5.5 mm) and marketed above the BSA Meteor and Mercury, it came in seven different marks plus another three for the "S" model, a special edition Stutzen style with a full-length stock and a "Centenary" model marking 100 years of BSA piled arms. This is an excellent condition MK V B.S.A Airsporter .22 Calibre Air Rifle. It’s serial number is ‘GJ 5495’ which dates it to between 1971 and 1974 (see page 52 of Hillers Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The metal work is all original, showing a few signs of use. The wooden stock has a lovely grain and only minor signs of use *small chip on the underside to the front of the near the cocking lever*. It is under lever cocking and the top of the air cylinder has the correct two continuous grooves for telescopic sight which carries a Weaver Tip-Off 22 scope. The top of the barrel has BSA Airsporter inprinted to it. Its loading and firing actions work as they should with a strong spring action. The price includes UK delivery. NB as a post 1939 Air Weapon the restrictions of the Crime Reduction Act apply to the sale and delivery of this item. AI 742.
