British land pattern socket with non-lengthened slot. The Land Pattern musket and bayonet were introduced in 1727. The Land Pattern musket and bayonet evolved over time, until superseded by the India Pattern at the close of the 18th Century. The blade is true and straight and the length 15 ¼ “. The leather scabbard has a brass throat, frog stud and chape which is showing signs of age related wear to the tip. The leather stitching to the rear of the scabbard has become detached with age.
