With the approval of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Colonel in Chief of the regiment. The Black Watch, The Royal Highland Regiment originated as six independent companies of foot which were formed in 1725 from Clans loyal to the Government ,for service in the Highlands. Their dark coloured tartans gave rise to the name ‘The Black Watch’. In as new condition in its original presentation box with its letter of authentication.
