Create my profile now!A very good WW1 dated British Enfield .303 calibre S.M.L.E rifle made by the British Gun Trade for the South Australia War Department. The all original woodwork and metal work of this weapon are in very good condition. It has a winged fore sight, correct winged adjustable rear sight and brass butt plate with trap. The rifle is fitted with original webbing sling. The steel grip strap is marked SHTLE No. 1 MK III ’ and dated ‘1918’. The top of the shoulder stock near to the butt plate has a small old stable repair. The wood has ink roundel SA WD arrow indicating issue to South Australian Forces of the ANZAC Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. It has stripper clip loading bridge and bayonet lug. The rifle is number ‘52070’ which is stamped on the breech, bolt and under the rear sight. The fore end block has unmatching number. Deactivated to early UK/EU specification in 2018 the rifle’s trigger and bolt move and the magazine can be removed cocks & dry fires and the magazine can be removed.
