Description

**MINT BORE**1887 Dated MK IV Enfield Martini Henry .577x .450 British Service Rifle (No Nepalese Marks) Ordnance Marked Brass Muzzle / Sight Protector Cover & Sling. Sn 19135:8 - 19135:8

This is a very good original MK IV 1887 dated .577x .450 Martini Henry, long lever Service Rifle. It is fully ordnance stamped and has its original woodwork throughout. It has block and blade fore sight, flip up ladder rear sight, steel butt plate, sling swivels fitted with leather sling, cleaning rod & bayonet lug. The steel barrel's bore is near mint clean & bright with crisp rifling. The muzzle is fitted with original removable brass muzzle sight protector cover which is stamped with small ordnance inspection mark and has a struck out number (illustrated). The metal work has even patina. The action works crisply. The action is stamped on the right side Crown VR (Victoria Regina) Enfield, Mark IV model designation and dated '1887'. The action is also numbered ‘1190’. The barrel has several Victorian and WD proof inspection marks. There are no Nepalese marks which indicates that this rifle was in solely British Service. The all original woodwork has the knocks bumps and bruises consistent with age and service use. The stock is impressed with number ‘P2.8.2’. This is an antique obsolete calibre rifle and no licence is required to own it in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 19135:8
