The League of German Girls or the Band of German Maidens (German: Bund Deutscher Mädel, abbreviated as BDM) was the girls' wing of the Nazi Party youth movement, the Hitler Youth. It was the only legal female youth organization in Nazi Germany. Images of original period BDM recruitment posters can be seen in image 1. This is a rare, excellent condition, double sided, stitched panel, Nazi BDM triangular Pennant Flag for pole mounting. Measuring 41” x 21 ¼” one side has a blood red background with broad white cotton band which has a black tape Swastika within a white cloth diamond crossing it. The reverse is a field of black cotton with large white tape letters ‘BDM’ and large red and white diamond section HJ lozenge emblem which has a central diamond set square white cloth panel and black tape swastika. The pennant has a hem with 2 brass ringed holes for pole mounting. The hem has black ink date ‘1938’ & original paper RZM label marked ‘Hersteller’, with printed number 407988 and partially visible HJ diamond lozenge ink mark.
