After the US civil war these pistols became popular in the old West among lawmen, outlaws and gamblers as its small size allowed it to be concealed in a waistcoat pocket. Some professional gamblers were known to have rigged special devices that allowed them to wear a derringer up their coat sleeve, inside of a hat or in a small holster attached to their body. Action in working order, some minor dings to the frame, otherwise in good condition showing some signs of use and a little wear.
