Create my profile now!A rare Napoleonic era Cavalry sword, probably made circa 1780-1790. A fabulous dragoon's sword of the pre-Napoleonic period, this pattern sword is similar to those carried by Napoleon's dragoons and is a very similar pattern cavalry sword that was carried during and before the battle of Waterloo in June 1815. Complete in its original brass mounted scabbard with two hanging rings. The hilt with brass knuckle guard and large oval langets to each side. The blade still retaining some of its original gilt decoration engraved with various motifs including a mounted HUSSAR. The grip retains its original leather covering as well as the grip wire binding. The scabbard bottom chape is re-enforced with an iron drag to prevent damage. A highly desirable and rare type of sword, no military markings visible. Good condition. Ref 2170.
