Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 2467. A superb cased pair of saw-handled .52 cal flintlock duelling pistols made by JOHN PROSSER of LONDON in absolutely superb condition. JOHN PROSSER had a workshop at 9, CHARING CROSS, LONDON circa 1797-1813. The pistols are both engraved with the makers name on each lock-plate. 10 inch octagonal browned barrels are also inlaid with the makers cartouche. Very finely blued and engraved trigger guards. Platinum lined touch-holes. The pistols both fitted with set-triggers. Superbly coloured and engraved lock plates with sliding safeties and fitted with oval shaped escutcheons inlaid on top of each finely chequered saw-handled grips. Wooden horn tipped ramrods. The set contained in its original green baize lined wooden case with the original maker's paper trade label in lid & with a brass folding handle to top of lid. The handle engraved with the initials R.A. The wooden case has seen hardly any use and has very minor scuffs and scratches to the case lid. Complete with some accessories including a steel bullet mould, shaped copper powder flask, a pewter oil bottle, cleaning rod and turn-screw. An extremely fine pair of duelling pistols retaining almost all their original blued finish and showing hardly any signs of wear or use. The pistols 15 inches long. Case size 19 X 9 x 23 inches. This without any doubt is the finest set of flintlock duelling pistols we have ever offered for sale in 52 years. Ref 2467. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only.
