A scarce Napoleonic era British military flintlock cavalry officers pistol. Manufactured at the Tower of London armoury. Dated 1801. This Pistol is a good example of a British military officer's Flintlock pistol with the “TOWER” mark stamped to the lock-plate, showing that it was manufactured at the Tower of London armoury, and crown over GR for George 111 is engraved on the lock plate. George The Third was the King of England from 1760 to 1820 and was monarch during some of the most turbulent years in British military history, mainly due the the lengthy wars going on in the Peninsular campaigns against the French led by Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as the uprising against the British crown in the USA known as the American Revolutionary War. Fully stocked in walnut with a standard military pattern swivel steel ramrod, brass butt cap, trigger guard and side plate stamped with the numbers 6.0.2. The 9 inch steel barrel stamped with two British proof marks. A good example of this classic military weapon. The wooden stock struck with military broad arrow markings & B.O. for board of Ordnance and dated 1801. A great piece of military history. Overall length 15 inches. Nice crisp action. The wood work is in super condition with some very minor dings and scratches. Without a doubt this is one of the finest Napoleonic military pistols that we have offered for sale in the last 50 years.
