A fabulous cavalry sword of the Napoleonic period. This pattern sword was originally made for the tall and fierce Cuirassiers of Napoleon's Grand Armee and is exactly the same pattern cavalry sword carried during the battle of Waterloo in June 1815. Complete in its original steel scabbard with two hanging rings. The hilt stamped with large numbers "193" plus various other French arsenal markings to the brass hilt. The blade with engraved military markings to the back edge - Klingenthal . . . . . . date unclear. A very scarce sword and unusual for this pattern sword to still retain its original leather grip covering and its grip-wire. Blade length 37.5 inches. Overall length in scabbard 45.5 inches.
