Description

The British Bren Light Machine Gun was introduced in the 1930's and used extensively by British & Allied Forces throughout WW2. Bren Guns were produced predominantly in Britain, Australia & Canada. This is an excellent and very complete early 1941 manufacture (serial number A449) at Lithgow M.A. of a .303 Calibre MK I Bren light machine gun together with its wooden transit case. Lithgow made a total of 17429 Bren guns during WW2. The gun is complete with its bi pod, dial rear sight, lower butt handle & original box magazines. The left side of its receiver is stamped LITHGOW M.A. BREN Mk I. 1941 (1941 manufacture date) The wood stock with steel butt plate is all original and is fitted with a brass identification disc which has stamped into it a star. The weapon has serial number A449 which is stamped on the top of the breach making it the 449th Bren gun manufactured at Lithgow. There are also various ordnance stamps on the weapon. Both sling swivels are present on the gun together with a webbing sling. The gun was deactivated to UK specification in 199. The gun’s slide, action, bottom cover plate, trigger and the fire selector lever all move. The magazine can be removed. The transit case contains a webbing sling, webbing spare parts case, cleaning rod bag, cleaning brush, 2 magazines together with two webbing pouches each containing 2 Bren gun magazines. . The price includes the 1999 dated UK deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 21681:9
