Description

WW2 Era British WD All Steel Hilt Variant Fairbairn Sykes FS Commando Fighting Knife With 7 Knurled Rings & Scabbard. Sn 21895 - 21895

Like many variants of the FS knife there are various theories as to the origins of the all steel knives. Generally put about is that they were dropped into Europe for use by the resistance. There is also anecdotal evidence indicating use by Home guard. At least one of these knives was recovered in the wreck of a Sherman tank which sank off the coast of Normandy during the D-Day invasion (see pages 131 to 133 of ‘The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives’ by Flook). This is an excellent, original, all steel hilt variant British WD FS knife and scabbard. It has the correct blued all steel hilt which has 7 knurled grip rings. The oval cross guard is blued. The knife has a 178 mm long, clean, blued blade with medial ridge. Its original leather scabbard has an integral belt loop and blued brass external chape. It retains its original elasticated retaining strap and as is common its original 4 sewn on leather tabs have been period cut back. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 21895
