Create my profile now!The F24 series of cameras were used by the British Air Ministry / RAF for aerial reconnaissance by British and Allied armed forces into the mid-1950s. The outline design of the F24 camera was carried out by the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough, and it was introduced in 1925. Detailed design, and most production, was by Williamson Manufacturing Company Ltd of Willesden Green, London NW.10. The F24 was designed to be lighter and smaller than the F8 camera of 1919, but the F8 continued to be used in less demanding installations. They could be fitted with either a Type 21 hand adaptor with two side handles, or a Type 25 fixed mounting and Type 35 control box and motor drive. This is an original WW2 era F24 British Air Ministry / RAF aerial reconnaissance camera. A contemporary WW2 image of a British air crew member carrying an F24 camera is reproduced in image 1. His example has other accessories attached. Our example is fitted with original Type 21 hand adaptor with 2 side handles. The metal work retains much of the original blue paint finish and is complete with data plaques and Air Ministry information plate. The Type 21 hand adaptor has an Air Ministry plate with Type 21 designation and manufacturer information ‘BI Co Ltd’. The camera including handles measures 16” x 12 ½” x 9 ½”. We have not tested this camera. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 19148
