Create my profile now! This an excellent percussion pocket pistol by Mortimer of London (there were several Gun Smiths working in London during the percussion era). It is 6 ¼” overall with a 1 ½” screw off barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age & use. The underside of the action and barrel have crisp English proof marks. It's steel action is signed with the maker’s name ‘Mortimer’ & the other side ‘London’ both in panels surrounded by foliate engraved decoration. The action has a sliding safety bolt. It has an undamaged original Walnut grip with chequered grip panels and flat butt with carved name ‘Js F Croll’ most likely the original Victorian owner, stock maker or retailer. The wood is inlaid with void white metal escutcheon. The weapon cocks and dry fires crisply. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion weapon no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a private collection or display. Sn 21710 (drawers office)
