Description

Production of the original Tempest started in 1979 and was the result of Webley returning to a more compact design following some adverse feedback from customers who found the Hurricane a bit too cumbersome to handle and shoot. Until 1981 the pistol had its name displayed as a single word, ‘Tempest’ at each side of the plastic for end. Other marking, in the form of ‘Webley & Scott Ltd Birmingham England’ on the underside of the fore end. After July 1981, however the pistol name was changed to ’Webley Tempest’ applied in a slightly different font. At the same time, the factory identification became ‘Webley & Scott Ltd Made in England’. An additional symbol in the form of a letter F with a pentagon was also added to all pistols except those designated for export to the USA. The Centennial model was introduced to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the grant of Webleys first airgun patent in 1910 and the 220th Anniversary of the foundation of Webley & Scott in 1790. The pistol looks practically unused, as does the original case. This actual pistol is number 2 of 2000 (number 1 was retained by Webley for display in their museum). The rear of the owners manual is signed and authenticated by a Roger Williams on behalf of Webley and date 07/07/2011. Present is the authenticity certificate, warranty card and barrel brush. The butt of the pistol is stamped with the serial number; 000002. The numbering of the pistol certificate makes it a collectors piece in its own right. The pistol cocks and fires perfectly with a strong spring action. The price includes UK delivery. NB As a post 1939 Air Pistol the restrictions of the Crime Reduction Act apply to the sale & delivery of this item. 21619.
