Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com Ref 3567. A rare Waterloo era Napoleonic period French Cuirassiers heavy Cavalry sword dated 1815. A rare cavalry sword of the Napoleonic period, this pattern sword was originally carried by the tall and fierce Cuirassiers of Napoléon's Grand Armee and is exactly the same pattern sword that was carried at the battle of Waterloo on 18th June 1815 when the British army led by the Duke of Wellington fought the French army led by Napoleon Bonaparte. Complete in its original steel scabbard with two hanging rings. The 36 inch blade back edge engraved "KLINGENTHAL 1815". The blade engraving is original but very feint. The date is also feint but is quite clear. A highly desirable and rare Napoleonic sword manufactured in exactly the same year as the battle of Waterloo. Grip wire and leather covered grip are all original, some very light staining to the scabbard, otherwise in very good condition. Overall length in scabbard is 46 inches. Ref 3567. A fine Queen ELIZABETH the Second British Diplomatic sword or Court sword, manufactured by Wilkinson sword, complete in its correct black leather scabbard with brass mounts. Large brass shell guard. The hilt in traditional court sword form with shell guard and brass pommel. The double edged blade approx 32 inches long and etched on both sides with the Royal crest E11R & Royal crown above. The blade also etched at the forte with the Wilkinson sword maker’s mark. Overall length in scabbard 38 inches. Complete with its outer black waterproof carrying case & the correct gold wire sword knot. The strap to close waterproof carrying case is missing, otherwise sword and scabbard are in excellent as new condition. (See also a different type of Diplomatic sword on our website Ref 3493). This sword is like new and has seen hardly any use at all and would be perfect to wear for a serving officer attending official ceremonies. Ref 3543.
