A rare pair of brass barrelled Naval .62 cal semi-military style percussion pistols by BOND LONDON. Circa 1835. Engraved on the 5.5 inch barrels the makers name BOND LONDON (the makers name has possibly been re-engraved during their life). William Bond had a workshop on 59 Lombard Street London circa -1799-1845. The lock plates with simple line engraving. Both Pistols fitted with a swivel steel captive ramrod. Brass fore-end pipes and trigger guards. The butt caps both fitted with an Iron lanyard ring. Stamped to the top of both barrels with London proof marks of a crown over V, a Crown over GP and the barrel makers initials -W.I. Actions in working order. Some dings and scratches during their working life and small repair to the stock on one pistol. Actions both in good working order. Overall lengths 11 inches. Pistols with brass barrels were very often made for use on-board ship. The fact that these pistols resemble the standard 19th century Coast guard pistols indicates that they were almost certainly made for naval use. Ref 3710.
