(Probably Theophilus Richards, he had a workshop in The high Street, Birmingham Circa 1747-1770.) The screw-off cannon barrel approx 6 inches long. The breech is engraved underneath the pan with the gun makers name T. RICHARDS. The butt cap with a large silver grotesque mask bearing silver marks and a date letter F. The walnut butt inlaid with silver wire decoration. An excellent example of the type of weapon carried by a Gentleman or officer during the mid 18th Century. Very good condition and working order.
