Circa 1840. Engraved on top of the the 9.5 inch octagonal barrel with the gunmakers name J BLISSETT LONDON. John Blissett, maker to H.R.H Duke of Sussex had a workshop at 321 High Holborn, London. circa 1835-1847. Decorative scrolling to the lock-plate and trigger guard. Finely chequered wooden grips with a oblong silver escutcheon. V notch rear sight and a bead fore-sight. Captive swivel ramrod. Hinged butt trap. Some slight dings and scratches to the stock during it's working life, otherwise in good condition. Nice crisp action. Overall length 15 inches. Ref 4044.
