This is a scarce and Austrian WW1, 1916 dated George Roth high explosive bouncing round for the 37MM Trench Gun (3.7 cm Infanteriegeschütz M.15) (37x57R) used as a short range gun in trench warfare and later on the Italian mountain front. This gun was an infantry support gun and as such was easily hand portable during assaults. This round consists of a short brass cartridge head stamped GR in a monogram (George Roth) S 508 1916 (1916 date). The steel bouncing projectile has the later single thin copper driving band (to save of copper) which carries engraving off the rifling and the recessed base so that the round is the same length as the twin driving banded round. The projectile contains the screw in detonator holder between the nose of the projectile and the body. The price includes UK delivery and no licence is required to possess this inert round in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 21686
