This is an original rare, to find, MK 1, 1st issue .577x .450, Enfield made, Martini Henry, Cavalry Carbine. It is WD ordnance stamped and has all original woodwork which has the knocks, bumps and bruises to be expected with age and service use. The metal has even patina. It has correct 1st type features including adjustable flip up rear sight, winged blade fore sight, cleaning rod and grooved trigger. It has a steel butt plate & single sling swivel. The steel barrel's rifled bore has just staining consistent with age & well defined rifling. The carbine has been fully stripped and checked with everything is in order. The action is fully functional. It is stamped on the right side of the action, Crown VR (Victoria Regina), dated '1881' and has the correct designation stamp 'I.C.1.' (1st Issue Carbine MK 1) together with crown arrow mark. The barrel, trigger guard and lever have clear WD ordnance inspection marks.
